Hello everyone,
Today when I was feeding my girls,
I noticed a patch of brown pee.
Is this a sign of a uti or could it be something else?
My guinea pigs are about 3 and neither of them has had a uti before.
They're behaving normal apart from that.
For now I'm going to hang around the cage and see if I can hear any squeaking while weeing.
Any advice or indication as to what this might be would be greatly appreciated.

Was it urine which had been sat for a while? Urine will oxidise as it sits in the air. It dries a rusty, orangey colour. That is very normal and not of concern.

If you see it actually coming out a different colour to normal, then it might be wise to see a vet.

I'm not sure how long it has been there for.
Though it is right behind one of their favourite spots to sleep so that is a possibility.
I also didn't hear any squeaking while peeing so hopefully it's just oxidising.
Thanks for the reply,

I once took a pee sample from George as I was worried about this very thing. I sat him in a plastic bowl until he 'produced' and put it into a little plastic bottle. This looked clear and fresh so I was baffled after all the brownish stains I'd found. Well, it went in the fridge overnight and the next morning it was horrifyingly orange-brown, almost like rust. Took it up to the vet with photos and they listened, and examined it, and said perfectly normal!

Good to know.
I hung around the cage for a bit today again and the guinea pigs seemed perfectly fine,
no squeaking or any other signs of discomfort so hopefully they're fine.
Thanks for the information,
