I know this subject has been covered a lot but I just wanted to ask your opinions on things..

One of my guinea pigs is doing brown wees.. but it's not all the time. Today all wees have been the usual creamy colour up until now when I just noticed one of the brown ones. I haven't fed them anything other than Pak Choi, cucumber and their usual pellets and hay today.

Sometimes they can go days and I don't discover any.. but then they can just happen out of the blue.

Any ideas? Thanks a lot.

Are you sure it is the wee that is brown? Could there be poop with it that makes it look brown? What bedding is the piggy on?

Wee can change colour from carrots and beetroot, but if there are signs of blood, squealing in pain on urinating or hunching in pain, then it could be a urinary tract infection and a vets visit is needed.

Is the piggy a good water drinker? If not, it may be worth syringing extra water to flush out the kidneys. Keep a close eye over the next day or so and maybe put the pig on a white towel or vet bed to show the urine up better until you are sure.

No, it's definately wee as one of them decided to do one on our bed sheets last night when we were playing mallethead

Could it be related to antibiotics we have him on?

Ah yes, that is possible. What is he on them for and what antibiotics are they? It is a good idea to syringe him bio lapis dissolved in water when on ABs. This is a pro biotic, as their guts can be affected causing diahorrea.

It's doxycycline. We had him on baytril for ages and it didn't help. I think he also did the brown wees on baytril though.

Where do I get the probiotic?

Thanks.
