I picked the boys some grass when i was out yesterday and a few leaves got mixed up with the grass too, so when i gave the grass to the boys i picked them out, but Gizmo managed to find one that i missed and was eating it! :x
I did wonder what they were doing as i could here crunching, he had eaten a small amount of it and i took it off straight away.

Are they harmful? He did only eat a small amount and it wasnt a huge leaf.

I don't think you need to worry. Think of what they would eat in the wild, I'm sure fallen leaves would make up some of their diet. I know my bunnies hoover up the garden for me :)

Guinea pigs love dried leaves; in nature they are part of their diet. The occasional doesn't hurt them. If you want to feed them a bit more regularly, try and get hold of apple, pear, raspberyy, strawberry, currant or blackberry leaves.

Please be aware that dry leaves have a higher calcium content than fresh ones.

I tend to pick them out just in case there is any mould or fungus on them but then I am being over cautious because awhile back Panda had an infection which affected her lungs/breathing. The vet couldn't definatly say what caused it but there was a suspicion it was caused by mould spores.
