Tonight I noticed Sweep has broken his top right insisor.
Gonna call vets in the morning...just wanted to ask some advice...never had a animal with a broken tooth.
Have given some medical incase he's in pain...but he dosnt seem to be in any pain.
Any advice will be great. Thanks.
Thanks.

I wanted to add he's eating hay okay and drinking.
He is dropping bigger food a little...but managing. Will cut his veg up small tonight.

There are no nerves in guinea pig teeth (they constantly grow and wear down), so Sweep will not be in any pain. It is quite common for a pig to break a tooth. It's usually from a fall or from running into something, occasionally it can be from a fight or getting stuck while chewing bars etc. It probably doesn't need a vet visit. Just keep an eye. The tooth should grow back really quickly and he'll be back to normal. If it doesn't grow back or if you are concerned see the vet.

If it's just the one of the top incisors then it should be left alone to grow back as there is the second upper incisor to help keep everything worn down. As others have said they have no nerves in there teeth. However if it has fractured past the gum line it will be sore and painful. Is it just half way up or he whole way?

It's about 1/2 to 3/4 of a tooth missing. He wriggles alot. Its just the one tooth...the other is fine. I only looked once as he wriggles.
As I speak he's tucking into his romaine lettuce and hay no issue have cut up veg incase.
Is it worth taking to the vet incase.. or shall injust weigh daily and keep an eye? X x

Personally from experience I would monitor weight and see how he goes though I know others would probably say to take him. It's going to be up to you to be honest, it's your opinion and he's your little boy so I would rather not say for sure. Glad he's doing ok.

Reg broke a tooth once - a top incisor - but was eating fine - it had grown back in just over a week.

One of my guinea pigs broke his top tooth once, we made sure he was eating okay by crushing food pellets if they were too large or hard and grating carrots, it grew back in a week! No need to fret, I hope he's okay! Did you end up taking him to the vet?

He's doing fine. The break is a clean break and vet happy to leave it as it is and see how he goes. I am weighing him daily and cutting food up small incase he has issues but seems fine. He's doing well so far and checking his mouth and weight daily. X
