My home has a small grass area right in the front, and during the less busy seson *I live ina tourist area*
The less busy seson I mean Summer I want to bring the guinea pigs outside. I would of course
make a secure run, probably have a blanket on top of an area for shade, and a frozen water thingy
if they get to hot. I would also have fleece on top of the grass since there are stray dogs on the beach (whitch is past the lanw) and I do not know if they pee on the grass or not...
Just want to know if that sounds like an okay set up?

I’m not sure I like the sound of it to be honest, if stray dogs ect are passing and the area isn’t secure. Would they be constantly supervised? What temperature does it reach outside? It may even be too hot for them xx

I would definetly be there with them, so always suprvised
You are right, now that I think of it it would reach like 91 Fahrenheit here whitch seems way to hot

Hi!

Please do not put any pets outside on the front if you are not at home and can keep an eye out on them; theft and wanton destruction are sadly very common and extremely upsetting. We get those cases every summer... :(
Also do not put your guinea pigs are risk from dogs off the leash, cats or foxes. Dog attacks take only seconds, as I know myself from childhood piggies who were killed by a neighbours dog wiggling through their badly maintained fence - and our piggies were in a solid run with a solid chicken wire top, but the run was not anchored into the ground.

Please also be aware that on a hot day a blanket over the top and frozen water is not enough; guinea pigs don't belong outside during the heat of the day. The sun-heated breeze will carry hot air over 50 C into the run (that is over 110 F). We have had cases last summer of piggies dying from heat stroke even in the shade of a tree because their owners hadn't taken into account that the hot air would blown straight into the shady area. :(

okay thanks
just wanted to see if it would be alright, guess not
thanks!

If you sit with your piggies outside on a balmy evening or morning, or a nice afternoon when the weather is not hot, that would be fine; just see it as supervised roaming time rather than leaving them outside on their own.

Very good of you to check. You obviously care about them but I think it’s best to keep them safe indoors and where it’s cooler in a hot country xx
