Hi,

I am seriously suggesting of bringing my piggies indoors. The garage is a no, because it is messy and we have 2 motorbikes in there, so that's an absolute No No. Also there isn't a suitable place to put an indoor cage or C&C cages with easy access.

So I am suggesting to put them in my bedroom on my desk. If I remove my T.V which isn't a problem.

However I need to make sure and to understand fully - am I allowed to bring my piggies indoors from outdoors? They've been outdoors all of their life. They are now 4. The reason why I am suggesting of bringing them indoors is because they are getting older and I'm getting worried if they'll be cold or won't be comfortable living outside particularly at their age. Of course I put heaps of hay, blankets/fleeces and safe snuggle heat pads in their hutch as well as cover on their hutch.

But also it'd be easier for my mum to look after them if I bring them indoors.

So if I am allowed and its safe to bring them indoors, could you please recommend me an indoor cage that is strong and have a strong cover/roof?

It is possible for me to use C&C Cages however what do I use for the base? Also what about the roof/cover?

Since our dogs sleep in my bedroom. So I want to make sure the indoor cage has got a roof.

Thank-you for your time, and I'll look forwards hearing from you.

Hi, it would be possible and no problem for you to bring them in, I did this year in september and I never looked back :) They are more people friendly. My dog ( a boxer ) sleeps in my room and she has no problem with them, but at first she was a bit confused :)) The only thing is, how big a cage are you going to buy ?

Hiya,

I'm suggesting of buying an indoor cage that can go on my desk.

The measurements of my desk are;

Length - 120 cm
Width - 60 cm

(72 cm high from the floor)

As shown below

So perhaps this cage would be suitable?

However I will only get this if it is suitable and if my parents agrees.

Please voice your opinions I am more than happy to hear them.

Oh by the way it's for 2 of my piggies.

Thanks
Lessie

Bringing them in is a fab idea you can spend more time with them and as they are 4 years old a winter in doors would be great.
Nero cages are very good but their are lots of types on the market.
Make sure you add a little hide away in their, like a plastic pod or snuggle bed.Guinea pigs like the option of a little hide now and again.

I agree with the other members that bringing your piggy's indoors will be beneficial not only for the pigs but for you too. They will become more used to humans and you can easily interact with them daily. The cage you are thinking of buying would be suitable for two piggy's as I have a nero 4 which is about the same size and my two boys live happily in that, they do come out daily for exercise and think if you do the same with yours girls they will have a fun time indoors. Also kit the cage out with fun things for the girls to do like hidey houses, tunnels and toilet rolls stuffed with hay,I'm sure they will have a fab time being indoors and will live happily with you in your room.
If your worried about your dog getting the cage that you suggested would also be good as its secure on top and the base fastens to the cage with two clips so it should be dog proof. Hope this information helps.
Have fun! :)

Make sure also, that even if your dog doesn't bother with them, he doesnt just get curious and pull over the cage by getting his feet stuck in the bars. x

That's a great idea and that particular cage is really strong if it's anything like the rabbit 150. Sturdy and of course has a roof.

Let us know how you get on and I think it's okay to bring them in as long as they aren't out and in then back out.

Hi,

Thank-you to you all for your replies.

Just to make sure if I do bring them indoors with a massive persuading to my parents.

Are they allowed to live outside again next year - in warmer months? If so when it's best?

Thank-you

i brought one yesterday from pets at home, its a two tier one, and I'm sure its 120 long, but it depends how high you can go, cuz its quite tall. but its great! the top cage clicks off aswell for easy cleaning.i have put them in my bedroom this morning. whatever you have(maybe ask for it for a xmas prezzie)then it wont sound so bad having to buy another one! gemx

Its best to keep the pigs indoors as when it gets below 0c it can be dangerous for the piggies mine are indoors and seem to love it!
