We have got our new GP yesterday and have seen a lot on this forum that they are better living in pairs so just wanted to know if we got another could we put it in with the one we have got allready?

Would they fight?

Is your existing piggy a sow, neutered boar or full boar?

There shouldn't be a probelm if your piggy is a sow, especially a young one.

The best way would be if you could find a rescue near you where you are allowed to take your girl (or boy) for some dating in order to find a new friend they get on well with - it makes for great friendships! Your girl can either find another girlfriend or be paired with a neutered boar - cross gender pairings are ususally very stable and loving. I have done it both ways.

We have two rescues active on here not far from you. I can recommend both warmly; they will also give you support during the settling in period.

We also have tips for introducing guinea pigs in our reference section which contains information which you mind find helpful. We also have permanent threads at the top of each section - it's worth browsing!

PS: Sows get usually only spayed if they suffer from a medical condition, as it is a major operation with much higher risks than neutering a boar.

I was very successful in introducing a baby sow to a young sow recently. They were both rescues and took to each other immediately! xoxoxoxo

Not so successful introudcing the young sow to another sow pair tho!

Well we have just got back from Buying a another GP for Patch and they seem to be getting all ok now they are both having a sleep together.

It looks like Young Love!

Just have to think of a name for her now.
