Hi, I have been asked by the owner of a female guinea pig if I would consider letting my male mate with her.
I have 3 males, one of which lives next to but separate from the other two due to dominance fighting/mounting.
I would be thinking about taking this one to the female. I would not have her here as I think the contact may be detrimental to my group.

Before I make a choice I need to know if
a) this would be confusing for my boy
b) it would cause problems for him in the days after, IE looking for her
c) could it cause more bonding problems between my 3?

She has homes lined up with her friends already.

If you can offer any advice, including anything I haven't thought of I would be really grateful.
Thanks

Discussion of intentional breeding is forbidden here
It’s not a good idea to intentionally breed guinea pigs, as it can be harmful to the female, and she and/or her pups could die...

Firstly, as already mentioned, you agreed to no breeding when you signed up to the forum.

Secondly, you don’t know the genetics of the guinea pigs you’re breeding. Why is she wanting to risk her piggie’s life?

Thirdly, as said, there are plenty of piggies in rescues. Why don’t her friends go there if they feel they would like some piggies?

As an aside (x2), trios of boars rarely work. And is your friend’s piggy a lone pig or does she have a friend?
