Hi!

I previously had an issue with breathing with my little boar. It got better but it seems that it is happening again but with both of them. They have this weird wheezing sound coming from their noses and they sneeze (maybe 3-4 times a day.) I’m a little conflicted because i don’t know if this is simply from the dust of the hay, or maybe because of just allergies or the cold? I don’t want to not go to the vet if I need to because I want them to be healthy. This has been going on since November but I passed it off as allergies but the fact that it is still going on is scaring me.

Please let me know what I should do.

Hi

Please see a vet for diagnosis and treatment. Guinea pigs do sneeze from dust in their hay and other irritants, but the wheezing sound is not normal. Continual wheezing and sneezing could be a sign of an upper respiratory infection, so it's best to get them checked out. My boy Oscar had similar symptoms to your boys, and as it turned out he had a URI. He was on antibiotics for a week, and has since fully recovered and I haven't noticed any returning symptoms. More experienced members will be along later.

Hopefully they're okay 💕

I’m thinking of calling my vet and just asking for the same meds they gave my little guy the first time since it did work. Thanks so much!
