Hi,
My guinea pig has been struggling to breathe. She sounds as if she has a stuffy nose and has crusty discharge. She’ll breathe normally for a while and then all of a sudden will struggle for about 10 minutes, and then be fine for a while again. I assumed it was a URI and brought her to the vet and they prescribed Baytril. It’s been a little over a week and she’s seems to not have gotten much better. I thought it might be pneumonia, but she’s eating and drinking and acting normally. Does anyone have any idea as to what it could be? Thanks

I would call the vet back... the antibiotic prescribed may not be a good match. A culture of the nasal discharge could be done, but it's something not accurate after antibiotics have already been given. Hopefully a different medication will help.
