one of my guineapigs died from what i think is pneumonia on monday and now my guineapig suddenly is making the same sound as the one with pneumonia made. my guineapig now is eating really well and seems very happy apart from that raspy sound. it started suddenly around 2 hrs ago. my guineapig now is also on baytril and the vet mentioned that there was some crackling in his right lung. can anyone please give me advice because i don’t want him to die too.

Sorry to hear you find yourself in this situation. Most of the health experts are UK based and as such are probably sleeping right now. When they are back online they'll hopefully see your post and be able to give you advice. I'm not an expert myself, but if I understand your post correctly it sounds like your remaining piggy was seen by the vet and prescribed an antibiotic. Am I understanding that correctly? It never hurts to contact your vet for follow up if you are still concerned for your piggy. I’m sorry to hear this and sorry for your loss.

Please ensure you switch from routine weekly weight checks and instead weight your piggy daily so you can be certain he is really eating enough. You cannot judge hay intake by eye. The need to breathe comes first so when piggies are unwell and struggling to breathe the amount they eat can drop. You must step in and support feed him.
