Had to share the fact that my shyest new guinea pig Lily ate a guinea pig chocolate drop from my fingers, for the first time. As she was extremely timid when I first got her, this is very exciting. Particularly as the chocolate drops are tiny so she was very close to my fingers.

HI, great that your pig ate of your hand, you must feel proud , it is not easy to get a nervous little one to trust you
perhaps you could try her with romaine lettuce? l find guinea pigs are more likely to respondto veg than factory made treats.

They are not really good for pigs despite what it says on the bag.A guinea pigs tummy is very delicate, and to many of that types of treatscould harm your pig in the long term.

Great progress, it's always nice when a shy pig starts to trust you :)

Well done! it is always a very special moment!

As to the nature of the treat, I second @gizzy . A little morsel of their favourite veg or some dry forage make a much better treat.

Any treat that contains sugar/honey, fat in any form and any dairy products (including yoghurt) are basically junk food for guinea pigs. Please be aware that guinea pigs are lactose intolerant and that fat/overweight is a life shortener as well as making any operation riskier. Sugar is as harmful to guinea pigs as it is to us, but guinea pigs have the same trap mechanisms that condition them to like sweet stuff. These shop treats are a good way of making money, as they are aimed at the human buyer, not at improving animal health or longevity.

Yes, she has already taken lettuce etc from me and the treats were a present from a well meaning friend and they only get them very occasionally. I suppose it is the same with humans, ideally no one would have any junk food but in moderation it probably does no harm.

Aw bless her - that's great news! I always love it when they do something brave for the first time :)
Coriander always tempts mine when they're shy...... :)

Never thought of coriander, to be honest I just grabbed the first thing that came to hand as I was having trouble picking her up. Veggies were all in the fridge in a different room. I was amazed that she ate it as veggies are usually a bit longer so she doesn't come right to my finger.

Aw I think it's great news, like you say, it was tiny in your hand and she had to come right up and be very brave to get her treat :) It really is lovely xx
