Well guys, thanks in main to a lot of great information I gleaned from members here, after days of paranoia about EVERYTHING piggie-related... I have had several breakthroughs!
Firstly, I was massively concerned about neither girls drinking as I had seen neither physically take a drink. So after 2 days of no change in their water bottle level, I decided to put a little bowl of water in the cage. Not a MINUTE after doing this, Chocolate toddled over to the water bottle and drank for about five straight minutes. My sigh of relief doubled when I then saw Cinnamon follow suit... since then all I've heard is the clinking of the ball-bearing and in 24hrs their water bottle has depleted about two inches! So I am mucho pleased about that... although I notice they wait until I was beside myself! Little .
Same goes with veg, Chocolate was hardly touching her food. I was worried about her going hungry, but after watching with interest at what Cinnamon was doing, she toddled out and literally stole the lettuce from Cinnamon! After a few foody squabbles they're now both happily sharing lettuce, pepper, a little treat of carrot now and again, a bit of cucumber... and MOUNTAINS of hay, they eat about double their body weight in hay. They even share a food bowl, which is lovely!
Best of all though, they now seem to get along a LOT better... both play together during floor time, and are now really enjoying their mammy and daddy cuddles... Chocolate is mostly my baby and settles down on my chest for snuggles, whilst Cinnamon goes to her daddy and likes to lick his fingertips when she's getting behind her ears stroked. There are still minor squabbles here and there but the squealing and stressed-out wheeking has subsided, and I've experienced the utter joy of popcorning from both girls when out on floor time.

Needless to say, I'm absolutely chuffed at this, they've both stopped hiding in their houses and come out to play a lot more, and have come into their own in such a small space of time. Like I say, it's all down to some sage advice from you guys, so thanks so much :D

However, if I end up with about ten pigs I totally blame you all, as it's your fault I've utterly fell in love with them :P

Did no one warn you that guinea pigs are addicting? I took in 2 guinea pigs last November after a 9 year break. Less then a year later I have 8 of my own and have been watching 2 more for the last few months until December. I have 5 cages to clean everyday. Sometimes I look around and wonder what happened mallethead:))

You sound like you are a wonderful guinea pig owner! Your piggies are very lucky to have such a great place to call home :)

Thank you! I try my best :) Just gotta get them a bigger home but for now they're more than happy using the lounge as a large area to explore, hehe ^^

:)) little devils

It does take them a while to settle. I have had my boys 10 months now, and Gino is still the only one I can put my hand in and stroke without him running away. Jamie on the other hand, still darts for cover :( I think he will always be a nervous boy, so it doesnt worry me too much.

Sounds like you have some very happy piggies :(|)

Aww that's great! I'm new to guineas too and I'm probably more skittish and nervous than they are, haha!

Thankfully, there've been some breakthroughs in my home as well. At first, Sam and Dean wouldn't drink from a water bottle, but after taking their water bowl away, they figured out that the liquid stuff in the bottle was just as good as the stuff in the bowl (probably better because the water in the bottles don't regularly get filled with hay and pellets and poop!).

Then it was such a battle with getting them to eat their veggies. They came from a pet store where they weren't getting any vegetables at all and I had to introduce them very slowly to them with little success at first. The first couple days, they turned their noses up at anything I gave to them, but eventually, Sam was brave enough to take a nibble of his green bean and Dean soon followed suit! Now they both love green beans and squabble with each other over them. They can't get enough! :(|) Now I'm starting a new battle: trying to get them to eat red peppers.

Since they're babies and pet store piggies, they were naturally terrified of being handled and would run from me whenever I approached. Even though they still run when they see me coming, Sam has started to eat green beans from my hand! Admittedly, he does so very tentatively and skitters away as soon as he has his food, but it's still a major improvement! Dean's almost there, too. He almost took a green bean from me today, but at the last moment, decided it was too scary and ran off, lol. He'll get it soon. :<>

All these little things give me hope that I'm not such a terrible piggy owner after all. :p
