Hi all. I today bought 2 beautiful little GPs called Elsie and Evelyn. Evelyn is about 2 weeks younger than Elsie and she hasn't come out of her bedding at all since we bought her home- she has barely moved in there.

Elsie is moving about but not yet been brave enough to come out.

I was just wondering if this is normal? Are they ok to just leave until they get used to their surroundings?

They've not eaten or drunk anything yet xx

Welcome! I would make sure they have a covered area of the cage where the food and water is. Make sure they have plenty of hay! It is normal for them to be scared.

:agr: :wel:

Put their food where they can get to it easily, they’ll probably come out when you aren’t looking.
It is perfectly normal for them to be scared though. They’ll need a week or so to settle in.
In the meantime look at the helpful guides on this site and feel free to ask questions!
We look forward to seeing pigtures when they are settled

Welcome to the forum.
Guinea pigs take time to settle into new surroundings. I always give any new pig a week to settle. Remember they are prey animals - their default position is “ you’re going to eat me”.
Talk to them so they get used to your voice.
It takes time and patience.
The guides you’ve been told about are very helpful.
Pictures please when the girls are settled

Welcome to this friendly forum. Do try the piggy whispering techniques mentioned in the guides. They really do work.😀
