We have two male guinea pigs. They are from the same litter and we adopted the in September 2018 when they were around 9 months old. Despite both being males of the same age, they live together happily and seem to be well bonded - occasionally there is a little squabbling if they both want to use the same cosy etc but generally they are happy campers.

One thing we really cannot tell, is who is the dominant guinea pig. Sometime it seems to be Toasty, and sometimes it seems to be Marshmallow. Is it possible that they could switch around fairly regularly?

(I am attaching a picture which has nothing to do with the question, but just to say hi!)

Hello 🙂
I have two boar brothers too and I can't tell who's dominant either so your not alone. Maybe it's a sibling thing? I asked the same question on the forum recently and it seems they can be happy just switching. They seem to get along fine which is the main thing. Beautiful piggies by the way 😍

Hello!

When you read the forum information on boars it seems like we ought to be having more trouble but perhaps we and you have just lucked out with our sibling pairs.

Thank you we do think they are rather handsome :D

It is a myth that boars don’t get on and that they can cause trouble. Boars only have trouble in their relationship when they are incorrectly paired. More boar pairs make it together than not. Being siblings is actually no guarantee of a successful bond though. The success of a bond comes entirely down to character compatibility
My own two boars have been very similar with the dominant behaviours - they both do it so it can be very difficult to see which one is the dominant.
