Has anyone any recommendations for simple, cheap disposable houses? If i was rich I'd keep on with the carrot houses, but they are such a silly price when you have a lot of guineas. I usually use cardboard boxes, but currently don't feel this is such a good idea and they are missing their new houses each week. I don't want anything fluffy or soft, just a nice straight forward box. The plastic ones tend to be too big to give them one each - and they spend more time sitting on them than using them as houses anyway. Can't go shopping so it has to be online.

A bit off topic of 'boxes for houses'. But I recently bought a new handbag that came filled with (a lot of) crumpled up paper so it kept its shape. (god knows why, they could have saved on postage if they'd sent it flat!). I opened some of it out and put it in the pigs outdoor run. They loved sneaking underneath it and snuffling around under it!

I can reuse it time after time for them. "Waste not, want not", as my mum always said 😊

Just wondered why you are not sure about using cardboard boxes? They are safe to use and piggies enjoy them. If you want something more substantial there are a lot of wooden houses on line in a variety of designs. Different piggies enjoy their houses in different ways; hiding in them, chewing them, running behind them, moving them about or flipping them over If they are light weight and sitting on top of them to get a different view of the world. Different types of houses will provide them with different types of enrichment.

The fact that you mention disposable draws me immediately to cardboard. You say you currently don’t feel they’re a good idea - do you mean because of be virus? I’m still using cardboard boxes for my piggies but if you’re worried you can always put them aside for a few days before giving them to them. The virus doesn’t live long on such materials.
I’ve got two different types of wooden hide - one is a bendy lot double ended but and another is a corner nouse which one of my pigs goes on top of but rarely see him in it, fleece hides which they both adore and a plastic pigloo which they move around while inside it!

Hubby used to buy cardboard boxes from Ebay just for the piggies. Try searching from there. Different sizes available too.
Thanks for this - I'm so used to having boxes in stock for them it had never occured to me to buy new ones for them. It will def be easier than trying to make little ones out of huge ones which I had resorted to!
