So last night I finally finished making the 5x2 two story c&c cage. I’m loving it but the only issue I’m having is that the correx on the top level bounces and moves when ever the pigs move around on it and so now they’re reluctant to move!

I used the c&c connectors and the problem is they’re not flush with the base so the correx is sat intoo of them.

Has anybody ever had this issue before and if so how can I solve it?

And picture just because I’m proud of this thing lol

My father in law trimmed the connectors flat on my first cage. The 2nd cage we just used cable ties and no connectors. Lol.

The cage looks great!

Can you make the tray a little smaller so it doesn't sit on the connectors?

could you put some wooden/plastic dowels or metal rods underneath to support the correx & stop it bouncing? if it has enough support then put a log bridge in the middle this would weigh it down stopping some of the bounce or is the correx a fraction too wide causing the correx to bow slightly upwards & again cause some bounce?

such a shame though as it's a lovely setup. xx

Your cage looks great, and we had the exact same issue with ours!
It sounded like a thunderstorm when Eddi did zoomies (which he still does quite a lot).
What worked (in the end!) was to put a large piece of cardboard (or several smaller pieces of the same thickness) on top of the grids, but underneath the correx (if this makes sense).

I’ll have a go at this. I have some correx left over so maybe that will work?

I’ll have a look into supporting the base a bit more. It’s not that the correx is too wide, it’s difficult to explain. The two grids that form the floor are connected together with the circle connectors, but these stick up meaning instead of the correx sitting on the grind like it’s should, it’s sat about a cm above it on the connectors. Whenever the pigs run over a area that isn’t ontop of a connector the weight of the pig makes in bounce onto the grind below, if that makes sense.

I think @Swissgreys idea will work.

Ahh i'm with you now, looks like @Swissgreys was the same. try her suggestion of extra layers of thickness between the supporting grids & the correx. maybe two full length strips either side of the central connectors sticking up will work?
let us know how you get on :) xx

Did you solve this at all? I was thinking you could lay some fleece under the correx to cushion the sound and movement a little maybe?

Yes. I did solve it, thank you. I stuffed a load of spare correx between the cage and the grids and then ziptied the back of the cage correx to the back of the grids so it couldn’t bounce against the grids.
