think my guinea pigs need some toys i have been looking online at wooden houses, hanging chew toys/treats even seen a see saw i am making them a cuddle sack and plan on making a cosy bed aswell just wondering if any one has used any off the above
they only have igloos at the moment

Mine have a hamock house, a snuggly bed, a hay tray, a soft baby toy, a tunnel, a cats ball (with a bell inside it) And then they have various hay dispensers that are used alteratley such as hay stuffed toilet roll tubes, a hanging ball with hay in, socks stuffed with hay, hay in paper bags. :)

Its taken me a long time to get this many toys together, but i find they love the cheap stuff! Like the toilet roll tubes. Hehe. :)

They are quite big pigs worried they would get stuck in toilet roll tubes

lol! no the toilet rolls are stuffed with hay, gives them something to chew and they have to work harder to get the hay out, I cut a couple of holes in mine too and join a couple together and string them across the cage so they have to reach up and stuff to get them :))

Thanks will try that idea

My boys favourites are primark bags filled with hay, cardboard tubes, sheets of newspaper and willow sticks. Also, Rocky loves his treatball, it keeps him occupied for hours on end. :))

Ok I tried the toilet roll tubes smokey liked it but bud has been eating the cardboard and not the hay and now making chocking sounds

mine dont play with or chew any of their toys now, they did when they were younger, but i think cos all mine are over 3, then have slowed down!

Hey, other people have mentioned treat dispensers and balls so i thought i'd just tell you about one i make,
Get a toilet roll tube and cut it into rings, so basically you should be left with 3-4 rings then slot all the rings together, so they make a ball, but with gaps, so it should look like this ...

Put some string through it and hang it from your cage :)
If you fill it with small treats, seeds etc. (veggies don't work as well as there quite big and stick to the cardboard) then the guinea pigs will smell the treat and try to figure out how to get it out. Then when they get bored they can also nibble the tube :)

Another of my guinea pigs favourites is Kebabs ! get some string (thick string) , get there veggies, and thread the string through, i use an old turkey needle to get it through the veg, and once your done, hang it in there cage ! then they will have to work for there veggies, it keeps my pigs entertained for ages.
(Sorry no pics of this one :/ but i have a link to a video if you want)

Like others have mentioned, toilet roll tubes are almost a guaranteed winner when it comes to piggies, BUT DON'T FORGET TO CUT DOWN THE SIDE. You can fill with hay or just leave it as something to chew, mine walk through it sometimes 'cause there a bit weird.

Someone else mentioned this, but Primark bags, or any form of brown paper bags are great, if you just fill it with hay maybe a cheap towel or flannel something soft, they use it as a bed and also nibble it.

I try to vary how i make mine, either on it's side with the entrance as just the top of the bag or standing up with special holes cut in it. You can cut more holes in it to make it more like a play house that they can run through, but if yours are anything like mine they'll make there own holes ! haha.

Another thing my piggies like is just to chew on a plain scrunched up peice of paper (Doesn't matter on the size) also they like to roll it around and try and stand on it and stuff, they don't play with it all the time, but they do go back and nibble on it every now and then !

Now on to shop bought ideas...

My guinea pigs aren't a fan of shop toys and only like two out of the many i have bought, one being a treat dispensing ball that they roll around, i bought one with raised carrots and they chew on the carrots too :)

The final toy is just a scented chewing wood block, now my guinea pigs have paper and toilet roll tubes they don't use this as much but as you can see it was once much loved .

I hope this helped and you find some great toys for your piggies :)

Hey loved the picture you posted, your guinea pig looks so much like mine Bentley, the one as my picture, just bentley has a lot of white patches down white side and on his belly, hope you enjoy trying all the other toys >..<

Mine are a huge fan of the treatball and one should definitely be trialling for a football team !

SOmeone on here recently (sorry cannot find the post!) suggested scrunching up a sheet of newspaper with a treat/s inside. Well thats been a massive hit with all six of mine even the ones who consider themselves too posh for toys! :))

Remember to be careful with newspaper though, most print with "Soy Ink" i think thats what it's called, but any other type of ink can be poisonous thats why i stick to just plain white paper on the safe side :)

Thanks for suggesting putting the treats in the paper, i just normally give them the paper and let them budge it around there cage as they wish, i guess treats would make it even better :)
