I'm moving the boys into the utility room in the next 2 weeks and with their tunnels etc in the hutch they don't seem to have much running room.

I've bought a used bookcase for £5 and I was going to lay it on its back and either seal the edges with aquarium sealant and put Lino tiles on the bottom or use corex to create the floor. I'll ask my partner if he can make a platform to sit it on so it's off the floor of the utility. Would this work? I'm thinking they'd have so much more room to run around over their hutch?

My old lady (who is nearly 7 ) spent 2 happy years with her sister in a 6ft long book case - it didn't need sealing - I just put down some correx and then popped in the mattress protector and fleece - we only got rid of it when we moved house and ended up with 7 pigs

This is what I've bought, it's 5ft by 2ft and I've read Cuprinol fence paint is safe to use on things for piggies so I'll probably paint it so it's not so lime green lol. Worth knowing about the sealant, thank you. I want my other half to make a platform for it so it's not on the floor. I'll pick up some corex or equivalent. I think I'll stick to shavings to start with but might get some liners made and switch them to fleece.
