Bonfire night

So since bonfire night it comeing soon I was just wondering if people could give me some tips on to keep my guinea pig comfort the live in my bedroom but people in my street have their own fire work so still abit load any tips x

Keep the curtains closed and the light on to reduce the flashes and think about covering half their cage with a blanket to make them feel more secure. You could also leave a radio on for them to drown out the bangs

All these suggestions are very helpful, I like to run the washing machine on bonfire night too to help drown out the awful bangs as it is quite near the piggy cage where are most firework-frightened piggy is, and very noisy but familiar!

One other thing you can do is desensitize them. Have fireworks (or gunfire if you're a movie/game person) on the TV. Start volume really low. Feed veggies. This conditions them positively. Once they're ok. Turn up the volume a bit more. Repeat. Now I wouldn't do this until it sounds like fireworks are going off inside your house but aim for a realistic level. Think how loud the fireworks would be if you were indoors with windows closed.

Offer them a dark corner. Mine love a hooded cat bed. But a snuggle sack or even a cardboard box filled with hay will provide them with a safe space.

If my piggies are scared by a noise, I always chat to them, so at least there's a familiar noise too (me). Only works once you've had them for a bit.

Thank you we have six guinea pig now I have taken on from my dad cause he past away 2 month ago and his last wish was that he wanted me to love an care from them as much as possible so I dropped some hours from work aswell to play with them x

We literally had them growing up all my life he treated them like his children they got more attention then us but I alway knew that I wanted some of my own one day x
