So yesterday I trialled a play date with another piggy as I noticed Bumble was getting lonely (his brother and him fought so had to be separated as blood was drawn.)

the play date went really well with the two pigs having a nap together. They have been together since and there’s not been any scraps as the new pig is definitely docile and does not want to dominate. Do I take this as a good sign that the bond is complete?

Hi!

Glad that the intro has gone so well! It looks like a perfect match!

The two can be moved to their joint neutralised cage. Make sure that they have everything in two and that any hideys have two exits.
The introduction has worked out but you still face the ca. 2 weeks post-intro dominance phase in which a new group hierarchy is established and cemented.

Please take the time to read these guides here. You should find them very helpful.
- Our bonding guide is covering the post-intro dominance phase as well: Bonding and Interaction: Illustrated social behaviours and bonding dynamics
- A Comprehensive Guide to Guinea Pig Boars (also contains a helpful chapter on dos and don'ts when it comes to boars)

Thank you! They are really inseparable- the humping has stopped now. If I take one out the other follows or squeaks.
They seem very happy!

Those pics have just melted my heart, on the day I thought my heart was broken after finding one of my girls had crossed the Rainbow Bridge 🌈 this morning. Thank you. Hope all goes well with those handsome boys x

I’m so sorry for your loss 😢😢 xx
Thank you. I wasn't trying to hijack your post. But I was reading up on bonding, and in time I know I will have to do that with the single piggy I am now left with. Seeing your pics made me smile, they look so happy together. Thank you for sharing your success x

No it’s okay 😊 I’m glad it cheered you up. I was really nervous about this bond seeing as Bumble was with his brother and they ended up fighting to the point of separation so this is so lovely to see 😊 xx
