My pig (squeak) friend recently died and i have found her a new friend (coral) who i adopted of someone where her friend was bullying her and not letting her eat. Ive put them in a split run for around 30mins for the past 2 nights and as they dont seem to be fazed by eachother and only have a little chat and sniff I'm removing the partition today does anyone have any tips as its my 1st time bonding pigs

I don't have any tips but will be following this. As I am in the same position and posted a question too.

Ive put both the pigs together and squeak has just flopped

Did you put them in seperate cages through the night? What's the age difference? Thanks.

Squeak is 2 this year and coral is 6 months and they were in seperate cages but met in the run twice with mesh inbet

Between i would reccomend a split cage though i had no way of splitting mine

Thanks. I don't have a split cage. Just a hutch and a big indoor cage. And two outdoor runs.

Ps the little one is so scared she hasn't even come out of the sleeping area and doesn't even move when I go to pick her up. Poor thing she hasn't eaten or drunk yet.

Since I got her from the shop at 130. She is snuggled in the hay I just checked on her. She is now in her own cage in the kitchen.

Pumpkin is outside in her run. I think maybe I should let her Peaches settle today and split the run again tomorrow or would you try again today?

Id wait a few days then split the cage

To bond my pigs I finally had to introduce them on a "new to them" blanket, in a "new to them" room, with a lot of space, nowhere to hide, and some hay in the middle of the area. They fought until blood the first few times I tried to bond them, so I'm now quite sure that odor and space are very important, and I hadn't sufficiently prepared the space before.

They also were bonded a bit when I shampooed them both together. It was recommended, and yes, two shivering guinea pigs will huddle under a towel together. After the bath it was a few weeks before they settled down and stopped antagonizing the other.

One of the girls is obviously dominate, but the submissive sow is "happy again" after a difficult few first days. It's amazing to watch them popcorn together when I was convinced a few months ago I'd have to have separate cages!

Thank you i use the exact same setup to bond them in as you and they are now together and have been all night on the floor of the shed they will be going in their hutch today I'm thinking about giving them a bath to strengthen their bond but one of the pigs who we recently adopted (coral) wont let anyone touch her

I put them in a split run today they seemed ok for 40 mins. A few nose touching through the bars. Will do the same tomorrow. Pumpkin has been in the run before but it's just a wooden square with chicken wire and we moved it to a part of the garden she hasn't been.
