My friend called today to say after the pigs meeting yesterday and things being quite hectic, today is completely different! She put them in their big space again and it was less hectic and they eventually stopped chasing and mounting and just ate together. This was for about 5hrs. So she thought it was safe to put them in a hutch together. She monitored for another hour and they are eating togther and sleeping together. Not snuggled up but all in the sleeping quarter all content. Shes so happy!

That is good. an overnight break often helps if acceptance has happened, but the piggies in a cross gender or sows only bonding are still very tense, but not highly aggressive even after several hours on the first day. As long as they can work through the most important bit of the hierarchy sort-out, the second day is usually a lot calmer and productive. ;)

Is it unlikely there will be a major fall out now? Shes a little on edge but figured if they were going fight it probably would have happened by now. Shes moved the hutch into the conservatory so she can hear should anything escalate

Not at this stage; they have now firmly bonded. The dominance behaviour she is going to see in the next couple of weeks is there to work out the ranking of each piggy and set the recently established hierarchy in place. Basically - they have now formed a team, but they now need to learn to work together as one and get to know each other. the first few seasons are bound to be on the lively side, but the shared excess of emotions serves to tie them together more closely.
