Hi everyone!

Last saturday I had a phonecall and 5 minutes later this little guy turned up on my doorstep

He's 7 months old and was unwanted grrrr Very friendly and loves a nose rub, but terrified of being picked up.

So, after the all clear from my vet I began a search for a baby boar (not very fruitful rolleyes ) However, yesterday I had an email from a friend asking if I would like to have her guinea pig (I know he is over a year maybe even two and lost his brother a couple of months ago).

This is rather a long winded way of saying....would it be possible (I know not ideal) to bond them? Or do you think they could be happy next to eachother? Or just - No don't do it?

THank you

Yes yes yes...of course you should try :)

It's the personality that you are matching and you will be there to monitor the meeting?

Please look at Suzy's thread I know it looks long winded but she has lots of boar dates going on on her thread with tips and photos. http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=59233

I have had failed dates and bonded dates with boars when I have re-homed a foster pig and it's always worth a try.

Good luck and let us know how it goes :)

Its absolutely worth a try! I always bond piggies based on personality, in fact I'm observing the bonding of two boys as we speak!

Good luck, hope it goes well. :)

It is worth a try - you never know whether it'll work or not until you have giving it a go. Boar bonds work at any age, provided the personalities are compatible. An age difference often helps, too. Especially if it means that only one of the boys is suffering from the big hormones.
