I have 3yr old Guinea pig who went to a rescue nearby to start the pairing process. He seems to like another male Guinea pig and the seem like they’re a good match. They were together overnight and the were doing really well and super happy and lovey-dovey. This morning they got a little hostile and bit at each others noses. They’ve only gotten to know each other since Sunday (7/23) and I know it can take time but will it be possible for them to ever live together or will they have to share a wall forever?

A bite can mean the bonding has failed I’m afraid.
Have you separated them?

What were circumstances of the incident? You say a ‘bit hostile’, what actually happened was it a fight?

If it was a misplaced thing then you can sometimes give them a few days side by side to calm down and then try a neutral territory introduction again. If they don’t like each other it will become clear.

If it was a deliberate bite and/or a fight, then reintroducing would not be a good idea and they would need to live side by side permanently
