Please go gentle with me being new to piggies if this question seems daft.

I have had my babys girls only 6 days and they are in an indoor cage being baby's and with it been winter.... they are soon getting use to it, the house environment...and to us etc.

Now, I have just got a new hutch and run ready for the better weather....how will they handle going from 1 home to another ? I have read on here how members bring there piggies in for winter but surley not in there big hutch's......does it stress them ?.......they will wonder what they have done wrong going from a big hutch to a smaller cage.

Plus, the new hutch is 2 tier and will have an additional run .....Now I have read that they get used to ramps better when they are baby's..........so should they not be in it now ?

Sorry again for all the question's.

You can actually keep guinea pigs indoors all year round. People with gardens allow them time on the grass but they are happy to live indoors. If you do put them outside then then bring them in for winter then the environment should be the same size. The minimum size is 120 cm by 60 cm.

Please do not be afraid to ask any questions on here. We all have to learn.

They are indoors now in a indoor cage.......but I was planning to put them outside for the whole of the summer

It does but your second one confused me. I take it they will live indoors for winter and outside for summer then.

I have only had them a few days.....so yes, at the moment they are indoors in an indoor cage.

You can buy small animal fencing from Amazon. Buy several lengths and build an indoor play area if you would like them to stretch their legs out of their cage every day while they are indoors! They really enjoy this and with lots of toys they will keep you amused with their antics. Watch out for siting their outdoor accommodation in a sheltered area out of direct hot sunshine as piggies can get heat stroke. They will soon get used to their indoor environment, so don't worry. Once they suss out where your kitchen ( with fridge, with their veggies in) is, just wait for the chorus of wheeks every time you go in there! Read as much as you can from this forum's main threads and pester us with questions.:D.
