Bonding three sows. When Rosemary retured from her operation.
When she came back, it was recommened by the vets that she stayed on her own for the first night so she just grazed with them on some grass so they would get a basic idea of who she was. That went fine.
The next day we put them on grass for about half an our and then put them on patio so that food was not a distraction. They then made very angry noises and there was a little of teeth chattering and angry noises. We then put them in their run and left them. Hazel seemed fine with Rosemary but Sorrel who is the boss seemed very angry.
In the evening, Sorrel was guarding the door and was not letting Rosemary inside. She was curled up in the hay tunnel and everytime she went up to the door, Sorrel stuck her nose out. We moved them all into the inside part of their house and there was lots of furious chattering and then Sorrel attacked Rosemary and and bit a hand which came in to seperate them. We then moved Rosemary back inside for the night.
The next morning, we put them all on a sofa inside and watched them, there was more chattering but no lunges. Then Sorrel started showing off her teeth. Rosemary and Hazel started to. There was scent all over the newspaper on the sofa as well. Since that did not really work, we put them all in the run but locked the door. They seemed fine.
In the afternoon, we put them in a smaller cage with no food. They seemed to be fine with each other. Then we started to clean out their house with the pressure hose and it made so much noise that when we had finished, they were huddled together in fear and when we took them back Sorrel and Rosemary were flopped out together.
Now the three of them are the best of friends!
Also I think that this thread may be better in the behaviour section.
