My foster trio will have been with us for a week from tomorrow. They've had a lot of changes in that week, with the big move, followed by an enclosure change a few days later when the stuff arrived to make their 5x2 c&c cage.

They seem to be settling in really nicely, mum Cookie is extremely confident and comes right up to the front of the cage to say hi, and will accept side strokes from me. The two daughters are showing signs of gaining confidence and will cautiously come and take food out of my hand after a bit of coaxing. There's a lot less scattering going on at every movement too so I'll take that as a bonus. 😁

The past few days I've been making sure that I give each of them individual lap time for as long as they feel comfortable for, where I'll take the hint and put them down at the first signs of wanting to go back. Today was the mark of two firsts: I've been licked by Cookie and Fudge; and peed on by Peanut!

I'm so happy with the progress they're making, if we don't end up keeping them then they are such sweet things that they're going to make somebody very happy!

On another note, I've noticed Peanut is getting a little dirty where she's obviously been lying in a pee patch when they've peed while asleep. What can I do to clean her up and what sort of comb should I use for her coat? She's a coronet so needs a little bit of maintenance.

Hi!

Glad that all is going well!

Change the cosy in her favourite area regularly and make sure that you don't use any surface sealing softener when you launder your piggy fleece to prevent them from sitting in a pee puddle.
A Detailed Guide For Fleece Bedding

Here is our hair cutting guide; keeping the hair at the bum cut short and if necessary giving a quick bum bath with plain water usually does the trick with long-haired piggies. Once she is older and the hair is growing out fully, you will have to give regular haircuts; short one in summer and longer ones during winter.

Thanks @Wiebke! They are on bedmax at the moment since that's what I have in, but I'll definitely be keeping on top of spot cleanings with them 😊

I'll have a look through the guides and hopefully get her sorted out tomorrow with my partner's help. Hopefully he'll be comfortable holding her in place as I doubt he'll want to be responsible with going near her with scissors!
