Hi everyone, since loosing our special boy Douglas we have been reading up on the process of bonding boars to prepare for whenever we manage to get Paul a new friend. I have read the bonding guide on the forum several times, but one thing I am not certain about is the neutral space.

If we have them side by side with a divider inbetween for a few days in a newly cleaned floortime pen, then remove the barrier, will this be neutral space, or do we need to then move them into a new cleaned pen?

Sorry if this is a silly question, but I want to make sure when we get to bonding that I don't make any mistakes!

Thanks

No such thing as a silly question - we are all here to help

No it won’t be a neutral space. Each half of the playpen becomes their own territory so simply removing the divider means allowing the other to wander straight into the other’s territory and thus risks a fight.

They need to go into a space which neither views as their territory - a totally different playpen, bathroom floor, blocked off hallway etc
