Hi we have just lost 1 of our guinea pigs and so today we decided to find her a friend however we have added 3 new guinea pigs. So far our 2 year old guinea pig has taken to them well. They were Introduce for a few hours in the run and now in the hutch, however we have noticed 1 of the new ones is just sitting on her own while the other 2 new ones and our original one seem to be together socialising and feeding etc. Should we be worried or can this be totally normal at this point. I don't want the other 1 to be secluded and not make a bond

Hi

Please give it time. That is not at all unusual; the single piggy is likely feeling a bit overwhelmed.
Please make sure that you double-check the gender of them all.

I’m sorry for your loss.

Just to check as you’ve gone from two to four in a hutch, that the hutch big enough for four piggies - that is a 7ft hutch on a single level is the recommended size for four sows (which of course is not a size commercially available). A 6ft hutch on a single level is considered minimum but can be a little too small for four piggies.

I have a double hutch notnsure exact measurement but I did enquire about the hutch size in the shop and they said it should be fine when showing them a similar hutch

Do check the measurement yourself and not take a shops word for it - unfortunately we see incorrect sizes being sold as suitable all the time. A double hutch does not double its size - upper levels don’t count, piggies need their cage to be big enough on a single level.
As I say it needs to be a 7ft hutch to be of ideal size for four, but hutches of that size are not commercially available so it won’t be that big.
A 6ft hutch (180cm long) is minimum size for four sows.
A 5ft hutch (150cm long) doesn’t meet requirements for four.
