Hi everyone, so i have had my new baby piggie for 2 weeks now and i can say that i think the bonding has been going well so far (touch wood) they share from the same bowl they sleep next to each other and are quite happy just getting on with their own business, however i have noticed my original piggie doesn’t like it when my new boy touches him and will chatter his teeth quite loud when he comes up behind him, also sometimes they are having a disagreement over food, they have 2 separate bowls but baby likes to feed out of the older ones! is this normal? i know it’s normal for them to have tiffs now and then but i think i’m so used to my older boy getting on so well with his last brother (who we sadly lost) that anything other than this worries me! it has only been 2 weeks so i guess i just want to know if teeth chattering is a normal part of the bonding and if my boy will get used to baby getting so close to him in the future! :)

Teeth chattering is mild dominance as long as it’s not accompanied by more...alerting behaviour. I would scatter feed their food and pellets. It gets them to forage and behave as they would in nature. And it can be a form of enrichment for them.

Hi!

Babies learn what is safe to eat by eating the same food as the adults (including picking food from the mouth); that is very much normal behaviour for this age.

Your own boy is still not sure in himself and is very stand-offish with a large 'private sphere bubble'. As long as is it on this very low level, please let them just work through it. It will eventually settle down.

thankyou for your advice, i think my older boy likes his own space and baby is obviously curious about everything, they sometimes have a little spat where there is teeth chattering and rumbling and then one of them backs down, this is very occasional i will add, i just hope it settles down again soon!
