I was wondering if there is anyone out there who successfully has a trio or more of boys living together, recently one of our boys, silly passed leaving sweep his cage pal on his own, he's about 6, we seem to have successfully bonded him with 4 younger boys, 2 from a rescue both between 6-12 months old and 2 a "gift" from a neighbour about 3 months old, I had already arranged to give a home to the rescue pair before silly died and felt i couldn't refuse the "gift" . I know it's very early days yet, they have all been together about 3 weeks, at present they are housed indoors in a converted 6x3 run on fleece with several hide holes and many bowls of food, my coroplast is delivered on the 3rd so I am planing an upgrade, I was thinking 8 x3 is this going to be big enough for now? (I move in may so will have the space to go bigger then) my 4 girls live in a 8x2 with a 1x2loft and a 1x3loft in a heated outhouse, would the boys be better there? Will post pics one I check how to again!
Cheers

Sorry should clarify not with the girls but move the girls somewhere else and house the boys there !

I think there is someone on here with a group of boars, but the standard advice will be that a trio of boys rarely works out unfortunately... They do better in pairs xx

There is one of my threads on here where I tried to (unsuccessfully) bond my four boar babies. Unfortunately it does seem that boars tend to want to live in pairs rather than trio's or more, although there are instances of this happening - it really depends on the characteristics of the boars. If I'm reading your initial post correctly (bear with me I havea foggy head today) it implies that you already have started bonding the boars and I'm guessing there hasn't been any incidents? Keep an eye on them. If you are bonding boars they tend to work better if there is an older boar and younger boars which I think you said.

Just make sure they have one of everything per piggie. So if you have four piggies, have four bowls and four drinks bottles and hidys. As the baby piggies get older their personalities may change with hormones (teenage phase) so whilst it might work now, you will have to be prepared that it might not work out in future and have extra cages in case you need to separate them.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the advice, so far they have all been together 3 weeks and so far so good, scruffy and sorbet like snuggling up to sweep ( our old timer ) the other 2 snowy and cinnamon sometimes lie next to each other and sometimes snowy joins the other 3, I decided on getting 2 from the rescue as I was scared that if I got one and sweep died then I would have to bond again, it seemed easier to just bond him with 2youngsters to begin with, our neighbours son donated the 2 babies, to be honest I wasn't keen, I've never had young piggies, too tiny and quick for me! But i think the gesture was a kind one, they'd heard we were grieving... Or wanted to unload unwanted pets anyway, I didn't want to refuse, they needed a home just like the 2 we'd adopted and so in they came, I'd love for them all to live together, I think I just love the look of a large cage and all those cheeping faces at veg time, but if not then at least I have the space to separate, I can't be in the dog house anymore than I am over the 5 new additions! We also took in a 4 year old from the rescue, he'd been there quite a while and I felt sorry for him when I picked up the other 2, he's waiting to be castrated so I can hopefully bond him with my ladies, anyone know where I can buy good quality fleece cheap?

, anyone know where I can buy good quality fleece cheap?
i buy a lot of mine from the rag market in birmingham. do you have any decent markets near you that sells fabric. you can quite often get good quality fleece from market stalls and you simply buy it by the metre. hope this helps

So far and all seems to be going very well, the boys are now in there new condo a 5x3 with a 2x4 loft, we had a little butt sniffing, nosing off and the funny little walk they do with there tush in the air, between our 4 year old coco and scruffy one of the younger ones, 2 bouts both lasting about 20 mins but that's been all since moving them to the new housing...I know it's early days so fingers crossed.

Lovely piggies :) I hope they all continue to get on well. It would be nice to think they will always be together, but I guess you will just have to continue to monitor the situation as hormones come into play etc.
