This sounds like a stupid question but I know guinea pigs should be introduced in neutral territory and I have a brand new cage that none of them have been in, can I use this and then they can just stay together in this cage once bonded, rather than moving from a bonding pen to their permanent one. I feel like the answer is yes as it’s neutral but I just want to do things right so had to check. Also, is it important or not if they are in cages beside one another for days prior? Ive done this previously but might not be able to it this time and was wondering if it would make a difference or not.

(I have bonded successfully before but just things I didn’t need to think about in the past)

Yes it’s fine to use the new cage for bonding and then just leave them in it.

It depends on the piggies. If they are over four months of age and can live side by side by a few days prior to bonding day then it can be beneficial. It gives them time to settle in and get used to each other through bars and can make bonding day a bit easier. But, it’s not absolutely essential. Equally if piggies are under four months of age then being bonded straight away is best for them anyway
