Hi! I’m looking to get a buddy for my Guinea Pig. He’s a male and hasn’t been neutered. He’s about 3 years old, and I’m nervous about him getting the procedure. I cannot find any SPAYED females up for sale/adoption. Has anybody here successfully bonded two males? Any advice? Thank you!

Two males will usually live happily together! Make sure that they have ample room (I believe 12 square feet is the minimum for two boys).
I am pretty sure that most rescues will allow your boy to visit and pick out his new cage mate.
Here is the rescue locator: Rescue Locator
I hope that this helps until someone with more experience comes along! :)

Yes, male bonding happens all the time. I do not have boys though so not the best person to advise
Have a read of our illustrated bonding guide

Spayed females are very rare so your options are to bond with a male or neuter and bond with a female after the six week wait.

The best advise I would give is to email any rescues near you and let them know you’re looking for a companion for your Boar - they don’t list single piggies on websites. Dating is the best way to do it, so he can choose his own friend.

I have a boar pair that get on well. Their characters balance each other and they made it through their teenage months intact 😁

We just bonded our boy by boar dating. We sent him to a rescue over the weekend and he came back with a baby we named Horizon! It was a super simple process!

Hi and welcome!

Please take the time to read these two guides here. They both deal with the issue of how to best find a character compatible mate for your boy. If you can get to one of our recommended good welfare standard rescues where he can have a say in who he is getting on with under expert supervision and before you bring them home, that would by far the best and safest method. Please be aware that bonding a long term single piggy is not always quite straight forward as they may have social deficits (see the singles guide below).

However, not quite everybody has access to one of those rescues, so I have also listed alternative options with their pros and provises.
Spayed sows are unfortunately rare. There are only a very few rescues that will spay (none in the UK) as it is generally a much more expensive and intrusive operation.

I’ll have to get a close up of him, he’s actually super dark chocolate brown! He’s not ready for human touch or attention so we’ve largely been leaving him alone unless necessary! He’s a funny little guy and Blathers adores having him around
