My sows are kept outside against a wall. I have a spare hutch next to theirs. Would boar(s) be ok next to them or would they still be able to smell them?I was thinking of getting the boars from a local rescue.
Thanks

I personally wouldn't risk it.

I have heard so many stories of boars having to be split up because they can smell sows and started fighting.

I have all my piggies in the same room, girls and boys, and they dont fight, I just make sure that fleeces cosies etc are kept separate.

I have a pair of boars surrounded by sows, in a cage above and below and they are oblivious to them. Bob did pine for Penny when he lived next door to her but it was only temporary.
They're all near each other when in resuces.

That's true hadn't thought of that before

It depends on the boars! Here at the rescue I have boars and sows next to, above and below each other and never have any problems but you would need to be careful about the boys smelling girls on your clothes etc when you cuddle them. Lots of people have both, without issues, but some boars just won't tolerate proximity to sows. See if the boars are housed near sows at your rescue
