Hello

I have two boars almost a year. Brothers .. So far everything have in been good until this weekend. The one normaly in chargé seemed a bit tired for a few days but now when he is back to normal the boys suddenly started fighting! And not mild. They charged at eachother and started to fight after some tension.. I separate them and devided the cage.. No blod drawn but they were upset. Can i keep them apart this night and put them back tomorrov? Or will they never get along again?

I see that you've had then for a year and presumably they've been living together the whole time. What are their ages? I believe they are still teenagers until 15 months, during which period they're most likely to compete and rile each other up. Since you already have them separated I would suggest moving them to different areas where they can't see each other so they can have a chance to cool down.

Hi

Please conduct a formal intro on neutral ground and follow the tips in this guide here: Bonds In Trouble

An illness/operation etc. can unfortunately impact on the hierarchy and can cause trouble when the original leader tries to take up the reins again and to reassert their authority. Your boys are still in the teenage months, which doesn't help.

All you can do is see how it goes in a day or two; there is no magic wand measure. It is entirely down to them whether they want to be together or whether they both rather want to be the #1 when the chips are down.

Hi!
They are almost a year old. It definately seems like there have been some mild ilness causing this:-( I Will try to follow the introduction steps! Is their normal play pen a neutral space?

Yes; alternatively the bath tub or shower floor with a beach towel for grip will also do. Have oven gloves and a carrier ready in case you need to separate. If there is a serious problem, it will show up pretty quickly.

All the best!

I put them in the pen nog. A short thing first but they seemed to sort it. After they have been eating and resting very calm. Maybe i should keep them in pen over night if it keeps beeing calm ? and clean cage tomorrow before i put them there... I'm a afraid they were feeling territorial in their cage. A very big cage btw...

You can keep them overnight in the pen as long as it’s secure. Just make sure to thoroughly clean their cage so there are no lingering smells.
