I have two entire male piggies - they came from a rescue centre as a bonded pair and are not related. Timmy is a couple of months older than Sam (they were thought to be about 6 and 3 months old, respectively, when I got them 13 months ago). Timmy has always been the larger and dominant pig; he would snap at Sam sometimes to keep him in his place, but on the whole they seemed to get on fine.

However, over the last few months, Sam seems to be challenging Tim and has often been following him around, rumbling, and trying to mount him. Timmy isn't having any of this, but Sam will back down quickly and only occasionally will it lead to mild aggression (some teeth chattering and snapping but not actual fighting; neither of them has ever got hurt).

I know this behaviour is normal, but how often do most pigs act like this? They wake me up before 6am every day, rumbling and squeaking. Then they continue to do it every so often throughout the day. I am starting to wonder if they are happy together, and if I would be better off neutering them and getting them girlfiends. Or would neutering Sam control his behaviour?

They recently moved into a 6 foot by 4 foot C&C; they have 2 of most things so they don't need to fight over food bowls, igloos, etc, and have space to escape each other.

Is there anyone out there with more experience of boars than me who can help me, please? Sorry about the long post, I just wanted to explain the situation properly!

Without fail one of my pairs will squabble at eachother everyday. I have 6 boars. 3 pairs. I have 2 at the moment going through their hormonal stage and they've been scuffling nothing major, Not enough to seperate them. Unless they actually have a big fight i reckon they will be ok. My oldest pair are 2 1/2 and they still rumble bums and mount eachother daily. But nothing ever comes of it. inbreeding
All the joys of having boars

Thanks for putting my mind at rest! :) I was worried they weren't happy together, but I guess it's just a case of Boys Will Be Boys.
