Hi all, I've had 2 boars for nearly 3 years. They live outside in a large two tier hutch (plus come out every day in a run). They've always had a little bit of chasing each other around and trying to hump, but nothing major. I've noticed today that one has what looks like a bite that has drawn blood...I will be taking them to the vets to confirm this. However I'm not sure what, if anything, to do? As much as they may have been fighting, they are very 'together'...if you get one out the other tries to follow, always go in the hidies together in the run etc...so it doesn't seem like they hate each other?

Good that you are having them checked out. What looks like a bite is often the beginning of ringworm/fungal or mange mites and not a bite. If it was a serious bite after a proper fight, you would notice it from their behaviour. If they are not hating each other's guts, please leave them together. if it is fungal or mites, you will have to treat them both anyway.

Thanks. I really don't want to separate them as I can see they comfort each other, as much as they drive each other mad! Often one of them (with the possible bite) isn't 'allowed' in the bed area, but sometime he is! He's definitely the more 'childish' of the two I think! I'll get them checked out tomorrow...they've had something fungal before but this does look a little different - plus I can see blood on his fur which I didn't before.

It could be a burst cyst; but you definitely need to see a vet and have whatever it is seen and disinfected.

Thanks for the advice...we've seen the vet and they were unsure of what has caused it (although doesn't look like a bite wound)..we've been given Fuciderm to apply 2 times a day.
