Hi there the mrs has left me with our two boar guinea pigs and one of them keeps humping the other, no biting or scratching just humping. Got them out of the cage to give him space to get away but I'm wondering whether i need to just seperate them or let them sort this out. Both have lived together for just over a year and never had problems like this before please help. Theres a you tube video

It seems like one of the boys has hit the hormone spike they have in their teenage time. Its normal behavior and just bear with it as much as possible. Here is a thread for you to read to help you out.
Boars: A guide to successful companionship.
also this one on dominance behaviors
Dominance Behaviours In Guinea Pigs
Sows do this as well when they go in season and its just as stressful for us humans as well as the submissive piggies.

Noisy as it sounds, I'd leave well alone. There's no real aggression there, just dominance from your little ginger one. Looks and sounds like a hormonal spike.

Just sit by and sit it out. They are not even close to a fall-out. When boars have had a quiet ride through the teenage months, they can sometimes get hit by the hormones just at the end when the more acrimonious pairings are already done.

Thankyou for your replies, how long is this likely to last for and is there anything i can do to help

You can't tell just how long it takes; hopefully they will be over the worst soon.

What you can do: just don't interfere and do not change their surroundings a lot as that can trigger another dominance dispute. It is never fun having to sit by gnawing on your fingernails, but doing nothing is the best thing you can do right now.
