Hi Alan,

Welcome to the forum, when you say fighting what are they doing? Have you checked this website out

http://www.barmy4boars.co.uk/

It's good fof keeping them bonded. I have boars too and gone through fistycuffs with my older two.

Hope the link helps!

my guinea pigs r when confronting each other one male is wriggling his bum growling and chattering teeth the other is chattering teeth back one backs off but other one follows close behind trying to bite. also since this i have found that they wont share a bed.please help

Hi Alan
I would clean the cage out and put 2 of everything in, food bowls, water bottles, and beds if there is room.
As long as they are not actually fighting and drawing blood they may settle down.Sounds like now that they have reached maturity one is trying to become top pig.what size is the cage exactly?

don't no if got my cage size new to site my cage is 3ft by one and half have two of every think but not Enough room for two beds thank you

Do you know how old they are....some of mine when they have reached young "teenagers" fight and they then have to be perminately seperated I'm afraid...the only 2 boars I have managed to keep together are a pair of brother who are now a year and a half old with no problems but the rest had to be split up...that's men for you I suppose :D

Hi Alan,

You will need to keep a very close eye on these two boars. If you are lucky, one of them will back down and accept the other as 'boss' and the squabbling will slowly decrease...although you will probably always get a low level of rumblestrutting, some occasional teeth chattering etc

But if neither of them is prepared to back down, then you could get a real fight - if you see one taking place, it looks like a spitting, snarling ball of fur and you need to separate them fast - protect your hands with a towel or oven mitts or you could get a nasty bite ;)
If you don't see them actually fighting, check them out carefully when you take them out for cage-cleaning or floor time...look for bite wounds, especially around the ears. :(

Yu may be able to get them to accept each other by bathing them together (not something I've ever tried, but often recommended)

I have a pair of brothers, Tom and Jez, who fought and had to be separated. They now live happily side by side in separate cages, enjoy sharing a lap, and have recently started to share floor time....but I would not trust them in a cage together at the moment.

i would keep an eye on them, if they don't settle down try halving the cage, we use a cooling rack cable tied to seperate our girls as jessie tries to mount zoe and when zoe runs away jessie chases her. :tickedoff: :tickedoff: if halving the cage they can still see each other and smell each other but can't fight or get at eachother. :) :) sounds ;ike the problem we had with thumper and bambi bunnies, the vet said to get them desexed and that will settled them down.   yeah right, they still fought like cats and dogs. good luck with it and keep us updated. our vet did say some piggies will fight to the death so keep an eye on them. hugs and cuddles to you and your babies. :smitten: :smitten: :) :)
