Well within 24 hours of returning from our holiday Darvos and Rory had a disagreement resulting in blood being spilt.
Rory is the bully and we have left him with Alfie as they get along and Davros is currently on his own.
We did put Rory on his own first and he refused to move or eat, Davros seems ok at the mo. We were told by a rescue it would be easier to find a male friend for Davros as he is a gentle pig and hard to find a male friend for Rory as he's a bully.
Shame it didn't work I won't risk putting him back with Rory, but hope in the near future we can find Davros a friend.

You have done the right thing. Sadly trios rarely make it into adulthood as a trio especially if from the same litter. A gentler piggy will find it a lot easier to find a new friend at a rescue then a stroppier :)

I'm sad they didn't make it, but at least we just have the space to home two pairs, I couldn't rehome any of them. So soon we will be looking for a friend.

Good luck finding the unlucky Davros a new buddy. As a nice calm, polite piggy he will find Boar dating a good experience, it's all about finding that best match. Just like dating for us really! Just be patient as it's not always the first piggy you try that's the right one and sometimes it takes a few visits before the perfect pig comes along.

I'm really sorry, i had to split my boars up last week too. Pumpkin and Jack are both so dominant, and they had a very scary fight. Currently Pumpkin and Boo are together and seem happy, Jack is alone and very unhappy which is breaking my heart.......i tried them with side by side cages but they tried to fight through the bars! I was very upset. I'm going to find a friend for Jack but he is so dominant i think it will be hard.t

Oh dear, I didn't witness the fight and they were ok afterward towards each other, which was good, but long term I won't risk it. And neither want to fight with Alfie which helps. Rory didn't cope on his own at all but Davros seems OK. This weekend moving them to c and c cage and will let them see each other but will watch for fighting through the bars.

The rescue I spoke to said about neutering and getting a girl for the bully, could that be an option?

You have two options:
- either boar dating Davros at a rescue that offers this service. I think Hazelcroft Guinea Pig Rescue in St Albans does this.
Here is the Piggy Bank map of high standard rescues. Most offer boar bonding of some sort. https://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?msid=209994852075231951564.0004b8fd9391b4257d8eb&msa=0

- having Davros neutered. For that to work you need a) an experienced vet with a good track record in piggy neutering, or the risk of especially post op complications like abscesses can be quite high. You also have to calculate in a post operation wait of 6 weeks until Davros is safe to live with a sow. I have the surprise baby from a supposedly safe over 5 weeks post op boar living with me, just to make that particular point. It can really happen!
You also have to take into consideration that any sow will need to live out sight of boars, especially subadult ones, either at a distance or below so the pheromones when she is in season can't set off some fighting amongst the boys.

Personally, I would recommend going boar dating first, as it is much quicker, safer and for you much easier to run a boars only household.

Totally agree Wiebke, thanks for the rescue info, I'll have a look. I know someone who works at another, keeping an eye out for a lone boy for me as well as I understand it has to be the right one. Thanks
