Hi TGPF, our youngest Boar, Walker, has been exhibiting odd noises when he goes to eat a poop, specifically sounding like a loud grunt or squeak, not too dissimilar to when we’ve accidentally caught his quick when cutting his nails, but not identical.

He’s been doing this for months now, with “calm” and “bad” periods where he’ll strain, hunch over, stick his butt right out, and then squeak for less than a second (Like a cough) as he tries to pass his poop to eat - The two different periods only relate to the frequency of these events.

This only occurs when he passes a poop to eat (Caecotroph? No idea how to spell it!). We also keep his anal sac and penis clean every week.

Asides from this he is healthy, has a constant weight, is eating regularly and having a balanced diet, drinking normally, and is otherwise perfectly fine; we do notice his poops are quite large for his size, often nearly double his senior Boar, Bluebear’s poops, but never change in consistency, wetness, or smell. Just the occasional tapering which we get on top of by slimming his veggies for a day or two.

He has no pains around the belly or back, and is happy for us to touch them (Although he does pop when his belly is touched - Either disatisfaction or ticklish).

He has somewhat recently (< 6 months ago) had an x-ray to investigate this very issue, however the vets came back to us with the all-clear. No signs of obstruction, bladder/kidney stones, testicular issues, dental issues, joint issues, bone issues or anything else of that ilk - In their own words “perfectly healthy”.

What the heck could this be? I keep trying to catch it on video, but the little always does it when I’m preoccupied with another thing!

Sorry I have no idea but hopefully 9ne if the health team might have an idea of what’s going on
