CW- Boar penis, please do not scroll if you aren’t comfortable seeing images of boar genitals.

I am wondering if my boys area looks like anything that is a cause for concern.
I have to be honest I have not been on top of his checks in that area for a while now, since my other boy got sick and then passed away, and frankly I can’t remember what it looked like before hand.

He will likely to be going to the vet next week with his new buddy who he will meet tomorrow, if all goes well, but want to see if anyone else’s boys look like this as my boy who just passed looked different and I can not remember what it looked like on previous pigs.

I am also struggling to extract his penis, when I try it a fat lump just comes out and then I can’t get past that. He doesn’t seem to have any issues, no obvious signs of a sperm rod or hairs etc.
He also has a little missing hair patch just above his penis, but I cannot for the life of me remember if he always had that.

What bald patch there is wouldn't alarm me, honestly. It doesn't look inflamed or angry, and the skin itself looks fine too. Mention it to the vet when you're there but I don't see anything there to worry me.

Thank you! I just noticed it when I was picking him up and although there are sections on the forum for this I couldn’t find a sure answer.

I have finally managed to get his penis to come out.

He definitely has a case of “cauliflower willy”, but once I get past all the excess skin his penis is still large.
The girth of his penis is fatty, whereas his younger counterparts penis is thin all the way along.

The tip of his penis is “normal size”, which is why it is worrying me.
If this was causing him issues what would I be looking for.

Bearing in mind he is 4 and a half and his friend is only 2 months old.

You might notice issues with urinating or pain, discharge.
It would be best to have a vet check him though if you are concerned

Our vets discourage owners to attempt to extrude the penis. I have had a few guinea pigs brought to TEAS where owners have damaged the penis, due to following advice from lay people online. It is a very delicate organ and shouldn't be messed with. If you have any concerns then it is far safer to get a vet to check.

I wasn’t aware of this, even on this forum there is a lot of talk about “checking the penis” either weekly or monthly.

Thankfully I haven’t been following that, but I was not aware of the issue with it.
I will be looking to get him into the vet soon, but as it’s Friday my vet hardly ever has a free space as irresponsible owners wait until the end of the week and then quickly want their animal seen before they are closed for the weekend, so I would not be able to get him in until Monday anyway.

He does not show any signs of discomfort when peeing, that I know of, but as I said his penis is much more fatty at the base and continuing as such until the ‘tip’.
Is this a concern that needs to be seen sooner, I understand it’s likely difficult to say anything off a description, but I am wondering if there’s any alarm bells attached to it.

I am also wondering if I had been checking his penis more often, even once every couple of months, I would have more insight as to whether this is normal and how long it has been like this.
Is checking the penis completely advised against, or is it just the regular checking of it.

I think i’ll still book him in for a checkup next week, just to be sure. Thanks for your help!

I guess it sort of follows the thought that if something was wrong you would likely be able to tell, perhaps by swelling etc.
