Hello,
My piggie with the nipple lump had blood and water leaking from his nipple. I picked him up right now cause the lump has increased in size and i squeezed the water out of it gently and saw a little piece of about 2 mm of skin flaking off the tip of nipple and bleeding began.
I have cleaned the nipple with betadine
please let me know if i should be cleaning it everyday, if yes how many times a day and if i should wrap up his nipple to avoid bacteria entering his blood and causing sepsis.
Please help me out I don't want my little boy blood to get septic

Should I clean his nipple twice a day? or should I cover it with gauze to keep it safe from infection. And also if any antibiotic treatment on the side is necessary?

He really needs to see a vet just to rule out a mammary tumour, cyst or abscess. These are the same for all animals (and humans) so a general vet would do

Good luck 🤞

Fingers crossed that you manage to see the vet before your flight back to Australia. Please do keep us updated x

So i went to the vet today, we took my piggy in and he had a look at his lump and gently pressed it as well. He said he is not too sure if its an abscess or tumour as we need to do ct scan?
i said if thats what it will take u can do it. after 5 mins he came back in waiting room and he said oh no its an tumor and its bad and cancerous and we need to take it out today?
My brother is a doctor so I asked him as well cause he has seen many humans with different tumours and abscesses and cysts.
My brother said the vets are trying to make money from us because first of all, First he said he doesn't know what it is until we do ct scan? and then he comes out rushing saying we need to do surgery now when he has no experience on doing surgeries on small animals before?
And secondly my brother said because there is a lot of oozing from the lump, it looks like an abscess because tumours are usually just extra flesh. And he also said that we cannot tell whatever it is if it's malignant or benign because my piggy is eating very well and keeping his weight.
We don't know what is going on. I have put my piggy on 0.15ml of meloxicam to keep him pain free from the oozing and bleeding lump for now.

Also I am cleaning his little bleeding scab with betadine twice every day to minimise risk of infection. Please advise me if i should put him on any kind of antibiotics. I know no one can suggest any medication on this forum but I really need some kind of advices to how to keep my piggy safe for now.

I’m afraid that if the lump is filled with blood, it does sound like your boy has a mammary tumour and surgery will be needed to remove it. It could be malignant or benign but without surgery, it will just keep growing and no amount of antibiotics will get rid of it.

Your vet could perform a fine needle biopsy. If it’s an abscess, pus will come out in the needle but again, it will need to be surgically removed as antibiotics generally do not work with abscesses x

My Bill’s mammary tumour was very small and hardly noticeable but when the vet examined his lump and squeezed it it oozed with blood. he said this very likely a malignant tumour and removed it that day
It should really be removed as it is always going to get infected or keep growing to a very sizeable lump

Good luck for your little piggie
