I posted before to say that we adopted a boar to be Big E's mate, he's a lovely boy but my son has noticed not only does he nip us which sometimes hurt, he nips Big's as well, he said he doesn't see him do it too often but I was wondering what would be causing him to do that? Big's even kicks him when he does it, he nibbles Big's ear's as well which I know is meant to be a hierarchy thing.

Aww I am sorry to hear that. Hoping someone can answer you soon.

Big E nipping and kicking is minor dominance. Big E is just establishing his top spot and obviously would like you to respect that as well. Always make sure that you observe proper piggy protocol and feed, handle/cuddle and groom him first.

@Wiebke No Jericho nips Big's and Big's kicks him. I'm pretty sure that Big's has already established his dominance in the cage, could this be Jericho trying his luck? or could their be something else going on with him as Big's is apparently the first guinea pig he's been with.

Big's does nibble you, but Jericho gets a bit carried away and wants to nip us often, he's been doing that since we got him but I put the nipping us down to him not being handled.

I would think that Big E and Jericho are now at the stage where Jericho is trying to create as much room for himself within the hierarchy.

Ahhh, I just asked my son when Jericho actually does it to Big's, he said it's when they are both OUT of the cage, which is when he nibbles his ear and stands on him as well. Yeah your probably right. Thanks for the info. He's a lovely piggie apart from the nipping lol. I hope he grows out of it.
