Hey so I have a long haired guniea pig and I was brushing his fur and I felt like sticky stuff on the top of his bottom ( grease gland I think ?) and it wasn’t white it was kinda dry and brown so I’m not sure if it has been their for a while and I now just noticed it ? I’m just wondering if that is Boar glue and how can I remove it properly I tried removing it with my fingers but there’s a tiny bald patch there from me doing that

If he lives with another boar (although they can get their own on themselves but some some locations are obviously only possible for their cagemate to get to!) and if the patch was rock hard, then it could well be boar glue (and if his grease gland isn’t dirty).

You will need to cut the affected hair out with scissors - you won’t get dried boar glue out any other way

Just one other thought if it’s brownish and sticky and on/near the grease gland then it could be a very dirty grease gland. I had a boar who was very greasy. When I picked it off he was bald underneath. It wasn’t infected.

I used lots of coconut oil to remove it.

Yes, gentle administration of warm coconut oil is best. Or a gentle bum bath, but best not to disturb it as it could become infected. It can be a bit sensitive.

I have the same with my smooth haired chap - funnily enough not with the Teddy - and Mandy's suggested coconut oil too, just a bit massaged in and then wiped off.
