Yes, as the title states we are having severe issues in this department at the moment.... Disgusting I know but it's a real issue!

Arran is only four months old and is humping everyone like a good 'un however it does mean that I am having to was Suilven, or at least part of him neatrly everyday once Arran's finished his fun.

It's getting to the point of ridiculousness and I can't keep bathing Suilven so much. I've tried giving him a toy to hump but he just won't have it.

It's getting to the point we are thinking of having him neutered just to reduce them mess! I really don't know what to do....:red

It may be disgusting (to us hoomans) but it's not to the piggies - to cut his doodads off for using them is a bit extreme at this stage.

If Suilven is getting severely annoyed with the unwanted attention to the point of getting aggressive then it's worth taking steps to prevent it - be aware that it is unlikely to stop him humping completely.

Then of course there's the post op complications to take into consideration - they are a real danger and so neutering should not be done lightly.

I tend to cut the glue out of the coat and just live with the snipped look - the pigs don't care if they have a bad hair-do.

Thanks Suzy!

We aren't really seriously thinking about getting him 'done' it's just getting a bit wearing.....

Suilven's pretty relaxed about it all, to be honest he's a bit of a tart I think! :x

It's just the constant cleaning up. Oh well we shall keep going with the bum washing/hair cuts and hope he grows out of it!

Alisons asbo twins from the Guinea Pig Magazine give her the same problem, she just cuts the 'glue' out of their hair.

Boys rolleyes When we pop over, I'm going to wear a raincoat.... :))

Hi MerryPip, Tis' true, my boys are stuck together like glue too. They seem quite happy humping each other and there is always lots of popcorning. Unfortunately Little Thom always seems to be covered in it-i just snip it out whilst he's engrossed in his veggies. For some reason Thompson is producing quite a lot of of it, i'm calling him SpunkyPig now. Just raise all the mirrors so the snipped piggy can't see how bad his haircut looks!

Boars still produce fluid even after neutering though dont they. And do the deed to female wifettes (I know your not really thinking of having him done but thought I would add)

Not sure if its a stinky or boar gluey as un-neutered males? The only differnce is no sperm is present

Can vouch for that- Mr Forrest likes to leave little patches on the fleece every so often, fortunately he is a gentleman and hasn't managed to get any on his girls though. No idea if his glue is any different from what it would have been preneuter.

It is just as sticky I can assure you, when I bonded Dodge and Cherry and went to pick them up and put them in the hutch after their four hours in the ballpit, Cherry was literally gross, so sticky, but I didn't want to undo all the bonding work so she had to stay like it for three days!

Thankfully my other boys are less 'enthusiastic'

I came across this boar glue thing for the first time yesterday! We have three male guinea pigs housed together, all 5 month old brothers, all jostling for positions in the hierarchy! Pixo, our little beauty, is the most submissive of all three and yesterday I found this glue stuff stuck to his back! He was looking at me pleadingly out of his hutch window and I just knew something was wrong! I had no idea what it was and almost ended up taking him to the Vet's, particularly as they told me it could be bacteria from an injury! Anyway, Pixo is now fully recovered after a warm bath in which the majority of it was removed. There is no sign of an injury anywhere, of course. I had to keep him apart from the other males yesterday as they wouldn't leave him alone but everything seems to be in order today.

Have you had your males together since you got them? And how old were they when you got them? I have just got 2 brothers and really would love for them to live happily together once they've sorted out the pecking orders.
How well do your boys get along?

I believe a lot of people use swarfega to remove the 'glue' :)

I used to snip out the glue from Sully after Duke had had his wicked way..... :x

Poor Suilven is looking a bit bald around the back end after I had to clip out an enormous ball of nasty stuff the other day.... very undignified! But then again Suilvy is a bit of a tart and is quite happy to let Arran have his wicked way!
