So these two gorgeous boys( yet to be named) came in a month ago, they were living in a tiny cage and were both a bit thin. After a few weeks of TLC they are looking much better but unfortunately I noticed a bit of bickering with the occasional clump of hair from the cream piggy in the cage. I moved them to a huge double hutch away from all the other piggies in the hope that things would settle.
Sadly I have had to separate them this evening because I found bites on his back and he had lost some weight since last week. They don't have full out fights but his cage mate is obviously bullying him.
I suspect as they have got healthier and stronger the bullied pig has been standing up for himself and this has lead to the biting.
They will be neutered and found homes with sows. Its a shame as they looked so lovely together! Also, I had someone wanting to adopt them, which is why they are nameless as I was going to let their new owner name them. Any suggestions are welcome!WP_20160604_12_31_35_Pro[1].webp

I am very sorry. Boars need to re-establish their hierarchy in new surroundings. It is the single most frequent cause for fall-outs between established adult boar pairs, as any issues can suddenly surface. Your experience is not all that rare.

They are certainly gorgeous - and what a pity considering that they had a home lined up! Perhaps that home is prepared to wait to rehome one of the boys with a wifepig? The one on the right looks a bit like my Gethin, just as a peru mix instead of a sheltie.

The potential adopter is considering another boar pair we have fortunately as it is a good home. Decided on Patrick for the cream piggy and Godfrey for the darker boy. Patrick is a lot happier now.
Its the first time this has happened to me. They seemed ok at first. I guess they are stressed when they arrive and gradually their behaviour comes out as they settle in. Goodness know how they coped in the tiny cage that they arrived in. It explains why Patrick was so underweight. Think l got them just in time.

Perfect names for those handsome boys:love:. Good job I didn't meet them ;). Hope Patrick can build himself up for neutering now. Good luck boys for neutering and wife pigs. You probably just caught them at end of tether stage. At least they get a fresh start now

My 2 boys were approximately 2 1/2 years old when I got them off gumtree (no rescues near me ;() and they were in a rabbit 100 ferplast cage I moved them into a bigger cage 2x6 c&c and they fell out big style. So they got separated and
Now each have a new boar friend. ((I've got 4! Now :mal:) lol. So I guess it does happen sometimes that the move and being treated well makes them develop their personalities.

Hope these 2 gorgeous boys get a new friend each.

That's interesting, its almost exactly what happened here!

Very strange isn't it. They wouldn't even stand each other through the bars and were lunging at each other.
I just wonder that in a small cage whether they have no choice but to get on. When we bond rabbits we put them in a small space and often they bond quickly, but sometimes they fall out when they are given more space. Its almost the opposite of what you would expect!

Maybe that's the case as they seemed to get on ok in the small cage they came home in until my c&c grids arrived.
