Here we go again.
Tomorrow we are off to try a piggy bonding session with stu. I really hope this works he's waited so long for that special friend. Please please let this work. Feeling excited but anxious too.

Best of luck, please let us know how you get on.

Best of luck! I hope that both of you come back with a new boarfriend!

Good news. Bonding session has gone well. Stu is now on his dating holidays for a week he appears to like his new friend and his friend like wise. It was lovely to watch he appeared to come alive within seconds of meeting his potential buddy. The rescue lady was as delighted as i was and has kindly offered to supervise them both for the week just to be 100% sure they are a match.
I'm just praying it continues this way as Ive also fallen in love with his new friend too he is adorable .
Think his name will have to change though as he is also called stuart lol.
I've left them munching on grass and hay together making lovely purring sounds and little squeaks.
So so happy it couldn't have gone better fingers crossed in a weeks time i will be coming home with 2 contented friends for life. Please boys behave and mind your manners Stu you are a guest.
Hope your session has gone well Tewdric ?
Well i'm off now to clean Stu's cage etc want everything smelling fresh and neutral for next week.Any more tips greatly appreciated.

This is all sounds really positive; fingers crossed that it works out for you and your piggies. Just out of interest, where did you go for the bonding? My recently bereaved boy is looking a bit lonely and I need to find him a new friend. I think the boar dating sounds a great idea but not sure of the best place to go for this.

I got in touch with Barnsley Rescue as it is one of three reputable rescues in my area I am lucky in that aspect. They gave me contact details of one of their foster ladies who had this boar looking for a friend. By sheer luck she lives in sheffield which is my home town which has made things even easier.
If you check out the rescue locator at the top of the home page you may find a rescue near to you.
the ones local to me are Millhaven ,barc (Barnsley Animal Rescue) or Cavy Corner. I have to say though its not been a easy process to find a friend as most boars are paired up already I've been searching since january.

yeah I've noticed that a lot of rescues have paired-up boars; I've been in touch with Cavy Corner and just waiting for them to get back to me. It's a bit further than I wanted to travel but there doesn't seem to be any reputable rescues in Lincolnshire.

If you've e-mailed Cavy corner you might find it takes some time for them to get back to you as they are very busy. I would ring them they have offerd to help me but by the time they got in touch I had aranged this session . They do sound promising though so I would contact them asap. Good luck your boy does deserve a friend. Keep in touch I would love to know how you get on.

What about the rspca in Lincoln? I have liked them on facebook, they are always putting updates of their animals and they seem to know what they're doing etc! But I've not had any experience with them, I don't know if anyone else has? Would be useful to know because, as you said, rescues here in Lincolnshire seem to be hard to come by! As do pig savvy vets?

If this is who helped us with Edward and Mrs Simpson she is a really lovely lady.:D

Yes, I too keep up to date with all their work on facebook. They are very active. They recently had some gps in that were found abandoned in the woods but I think they have all been rehomed. I will get in touch with them again though. And you're right about the pig savvy vets too; unless you have a dog, cat or rabbit they're out of their depth.

I think they still have some left that haven't been rehomed, I was having a look yesterday :) I hope your boy finds a friend soon :)

Yes I think it might be the same lady she was really friendly and helpful. Loved her set up wish i had the space as when i eventually retire from work would have loved to do somthing like that.
I had no problem in leaving Stew with her even though I'm missing him like crazy. So want this to work. I have heard though Stew started teeth chattering shortly after i left so she seperated them. They are currently living in adjacent cages to be tried again later.Heres hoping they make friends it looked so promising yesterday

Let's hope it was just a blip and that they will be back together again soon :)
I am taking Muffin to meet a couple of boars at the RSPCA this evening. Their foster mum is going to keep him for 24 hours to see if she can pair him up with a friend. Fingers crossed

Good luck Muffin . I'm afraid it wasn't a blip just heard Stew has been increasingly agressive. Absolutely gutted the rescue lady is trying so hard to find him a friend shes now contacting a friend of hers for possible matches. Feel so disapointed and frustrated

Really sorry to hear the news luvleeju. If the worst happens and this match doesn't work out are there any other boys that can be tried with Stew?

Yesterday went well for little Telford and I now have a very young youngster back here at home in a hutch with him.

I was prepared to leave Telford with the rescue for a week, but the lady in charge said that all the sings looked really good and that as the youngster was sooo young and used to being bossed around by an older pig that I should take them home and just keep an eye on things.

So far all seems to be well. There has been some dominant rumbling and a bit of mounting from Telford, but the youngster doesn't seem phased by this. They have cuddled up together at different times and both follow each other around the hutch.

Judging from the poo both are eating well so fingers crossed. I really hope the new little one doesn't hit the 'hormonal' stage too early so that they can fully establish a bond......

Not where he is at the moment but they are contacting someone who may have possible companions. The lady who has Stew now is willing to try him there with any possible match . Everyone is being so helpful and kind it's just Stew who is being very fussy lol. Really was gutted as I had fallen in love with his potential friend. Just got to accept Stew is the boss and it's his choice lol

Very true about Stew being the boss here. I fell in love with a gorgeous little 6 month old pure black boar yesterday. He was a real softy and very cuddly. We tried introducing him to Telford, but the hated each other on site - teeth chattering from both followed by Telford peeing on the black coated boy. A real shame, but I was after someone Telford liked so that match wasn't going to work. The youngster I came away with is very cute and with some time with stop being so nervous.

I really hope there is someone in your area that Stew will like and that he finds him soon.

That is such a shame :(

Just had a call from Sue (RSPCA) to say that Muffin is getting on okay with a boar called Womble! I am hopefully going to pick them up tonight. Currently disinfecting everything belonging to Muffin so that everything is neutral when they come home. I really hope they will both be happy.

That's brilliant news so pleased for you.
Trust mine to be the only one that's being awkward. He's still away at the rescue not heard anything today so far

I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Of course there are no guarantees that Muffin and Womble continue to get along but I guess it is a promising start!
