Boar cleaning

Just out of curiosity... If I were to get a male piggie fixed (since I have two girls) would I still have to do boar cleanings? I honestly doubt I'm going to get another piggy soon and tbh I don't think anyone in my area fixes them. Me and my boyfriend were talking about it and what better place to ask then on here lol

Neutered piggies can still drag their bottoms along the ground so could still pick up hay and other things. And their...things can still get buildup I THINK. Have a read of the boar cleaning thread.

Does your current piggy vet not do neutering? Where are you located?

Yep you will have to do boar bit's cleaning. Dennis is pretty good at keeping himself sorted. Christian is a totally different matter. They may be brothers but Christian's hygiene regime leaves a lot to be desired! I'm forever cleaning his bits. He doesn't really enjoy a willy wash but if he won't clean it himself, I have to do it. And he never sorts out his own sperm rods either!

Hi, as @Siikibam has said, the only thing that is less likely in an neutered elderly boar than an intact elderly boy is impaction, although it's possible in both. I think this is because the weight of the testicles contributes to making the muscles in the anal sac looser.

So you still need to do checks of their boar bits, but this isn't onerous.Very little cleaning is needed. They pretty much take care of that themselves. Why do you ask?

Yes funny how they can be so different! Never had to do Bill’s bits, always a spotless neat little bum, Ted on the other hand
